LATONYA LAIRD AUSTIN HONORABLE - JUDICAL CANDIDATE WITH UNPAID INCOME TAXES AND TOO MUCH BAGGAGE TO HOLD OFFICE

LaTonya Laird Austin Honorable is the attorney that caused all the problems for the city of Little Rock in the infamous case Tiffany Malone v. City of Little Rock, including a $10,000 fine for the city of Little Rock because of her poor performance as an attorney.  (You can read posts about Austin on our Bad City of Little Rock blog by clicking here and here.)

Austin-Honorable who resigned in lieu of being fired by city attorney Tom Carpenter, is one of three candidates for the District Court position that was vacated by the resignation of Judge Alice Lightle.

A story in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette by reporter Chelsea Boozer back on May 21, 2016 related the fate of Austin's city employment.

A big problem for Austin-Honorable in her quest to get back on the public payroll is the fact that she and her ex-husband failed to pay state income taxes when due which resulted the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration filing liens against them.

Failure to pay taxes when due is part of the reason that Saline County Circuit Court Judge Bobby McAllister is no longer on the bench and is soon going to be removed  from the bench permanently.(You can read posts about McAllister on our Bad Government in Arkansas blog by clicking here and here.)

The liens filed by DFA reveal that Austin-Honorable owes a huge debt to the state, approximately $15,109.44, for several years of unpaid income taxes. Some of those years she was a public employee.

This places her candidacy in peril as her failure to pay taxes when due violates rules of the Arkansas Judiciary.

According the the Austin's divorce filings, federal income taxes are also unpaid.

Her divorce from Roy Austin was granted on December 13, 2016.

She recently married Lee Honorable on August 12, 2017.

There is also a matter that Austin-Honorable has refused to address - her arrest and jailing for contempt back in 2013.

Austin-Honorable claims she is "ethical" and "fair" on her campaign material.

Not sure that being a tax deadbeat is ethical and fair at all.

***UPDATE 4/23/18***

Apparently Austin-Honorable, or whatever last name she uses at the moment, besides her having little regard for our state income tax laws by breaking the law in not paying state income taxes and having the Department of Finance & Administration file tax liens against her,  now has been arrested for traffic related offenses and was driving with an expired driver's license.  Just the kind of person we need as a judge.

Stayed tuned. We are sure that more will happen with Austin-Honorable before the election.
